Daniel Sang Hoon Lee - Primary Sources 2

This is the printed advertisement of the Armani Exchange, which is one of the most well-known Italian fashion brand. The official title of the ad is "on a day trip to a festival filled with youthful freshness and undiscovered passion." in the Summer 2009 ad Campaign.

In the advertisement, a muscular man, who are trying to take off his yellow shirt, is on a woman's body. In addition, the woman puts on inner wear-she is almost half naked. Furthermore, there is another muscular man wearing a swim suit.

The striking contrast of color and the sexual suggestive of the image are the main factors of the advertisements to convince customers by causing them to imagine making love with the opposite gender. It is obvious that the ad highlights that wearing Armani Exchange would guarantee to facilitate to allure and to spend enjoyable moments with the others.

  1. I think this ad also suggests how men are seen as more dominant in today's culture than women. This man is on top of the woman and looks as if he could take control of the situation. Also, there is a man watching in the background which belittles the intimacy of the couple in the focus.

  2. The convertible SUV in the background might means the desire of conquest.Along with the woman under the man, the ad suggests that the effects from products bring the man success.
