1) Flirting is testing whether or not one would succeed at the mating game if he/she were put back in the market.
2) Flirting is just curious attempts to see what one would or could be doing instead of being committed.
3) Flirting is trying to set up multiple back up plans if things with the current mate don't work out.
Thesis: Long after we need to play it, we're still in there swinging (so to speak)...
