Denholm - Paraphrase x3

Paraphrase x3:

Sentence: "In primal terms, they're physical signals that you don't intend to dominate, nor do you intend to flee--both useful messages potential mates need to send before they can proceed to that awkward talking phase."

1) Speaking primitively, the physical cues show that you don't want to take over, and you don't want to leave--both helpful signals possible partners must deliver before starting the chit-chat stage.

2) Prehistorically, they are visual indications that you don't mean to rule or to run away -- two functional statements future lovers must exchange before engaging in small-talk.

3) Evolutionarily speaking, these are signs that you don't plan to invade or to escape -- effective hints likely companions should convey to each other before getting to know one another verbally.

Thesis: "And before you claim, whether single or married, that you never flirt, bear in mind that it's not just talk we're dealing with here."

Free write: Flirting is an interesting topic to research. Most humans don't really think about flirting even as they are doing it because it is in their nature. To recognize that there are biological and cultural reasons for flirting is very interesting. The way we flirt and why we do it are things that are surely very important to reproduction but no one seems to understand the true significance of it.
