NFL Mobile Commercial

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKfL0AuoDa8

This commercial is for a phone application where you can track NFL games on your mobile device. The commercial begins with a man sitting next to a pool with what seems like his girlfriend or wife laying next to him in another lounge chair. She says she is going to take a dip in the pool. The man looks at her until she can't see him anymore and he pulls out his phone. He starts to watch a video of a football highlight. The phone is in the center of the screen and very colorful. Without watching it a second time, I noticed that you can actually see his girlfriend walking into the pool if you can look away from the phone screen. This is saying that he is keeping his focus on the football game rather than his girlfriend denoting football is more important to him and more attractive. The highlight was of Adrian Peterson running for a touchdown. Shortly after, Adrian Peterson gets out of the swimming pool all wet and throws a towel on top of his head. In a woman's voice that is the same as the guy's girlfriend, he says "Your picturing me as Adrian Peterson again aren't you?". The guy replies "Don't be silly Adrian Peterson". The commercial is basically stating that woman are not as important to men than football and that you need to get this phone application to be happy.

  1. good point about his girlfriend still being in the shot but out of focus. i think when she says "you're picturing me as peterson AGAIN aren't you" lends a bit to the fact that this has happened before, and adds humor which instills the ad in your mind

  2. I agree that the humor really helps stick the commercial in viewers minds. I find it funny that the guy in the commercial is looking at his attractive girlfriend but fantasizing about a manly, athletic football player instead. Obviously, verizon is looking to advertise their product to the typical sports-loving male.
