Question 4

I think that the writer of the ad targets the male audience, who usually connect the Internet. The ad is attempting to promote the product, “go daddy.com.” Even though the ad does not provide detailed information about the website, the audience can easily recognize that the website deals with the Internet domain.

There is no doubt that the ad utilizes the sexual suggestive images to draw attention from the male audience. It is notable that the ad avoids from providing detailed information about the “go daddy.com” website. On the contrary, I can easily notice that the ad suggests the name of the product repeatedly to enable audiences to remind it in the passive way. The ad is completely full of splendid and striking audio-visual factors such as the contrast of the color, the repetition of the music and the logo, the fashion style of male and female models.

It is evident that the ad considers that the main customer of the product, which is the “go daddy.com”, is the male audience. It is effective for the writer to enable the male audience-the potential customers of the product-to remind the brand, “go daddy.com” by suggesting repeated mild sexual-suggestive images in the ad. The usage of the repeated image of the ad is not only to draw attention from the male audience easily but also to help them remember the brand effectively. Moreover, in the ad, there is a repeated scene of the brand logo, which is written on a black background with music, to inform that the “go daddy.com” is the Internet domain provider. With the help of the astonishing restatement of the images, the ad can get a chance to promote the product successfully.

  1. I think that the company does promote their product effectively. Their commercials always get stuck in my head after I see them, and that is the purpose. They want you to know their product. Also, the use of attractive women just further makes their product stick in the consumer's mind. The way they advertise their product I think is very effective. Because in the end, you want the consumers to know your name and what you are trying to sell. And I think that Go Daddy does this very well.

  2. every Go Daddy ad i have seen is very unconventional in that it hardly advertises what Go Daddy really is. however, they are very effective. the repetition of the brand name and use of female models makes the words "go daddy" stick in your head.

  3. GoDaddy gets a lot of attention because of there racy, loud, and sexual commercials. Even if some of it is negative attention, it's still effective in getting their name stuck in your head, which i believe is their main focus or goal when they build these commercials.

  4. Using sex as a selling point is very effective and works well in this advertisement. Even though they do not say much about what their website can do or why a person should check it out, this commercial makes people want to use Go Daddy. This type of ad sticks in a person's head especially a man's. Guys are going to keep the channel on this commercial instead of channel surfing because of what they are hoping to see and get out of the advertisement.

  5. I agree that the primary targeted audience is men. That is a given, based on the sexually spiked commercials that are aired on television. Commercials like these are meant to stick in a man's head so when he's bored or not doing anything important, he will check GoDaddy out. It's smart that GoDaddy advertises the way they do, and I think that sex really does sell; it's something that will last much, much longer.
