I think that the writer of the ad targets the male audience, who usually connect the Internet. The ad is attempting to promote the product, “go daddy.com.” Even though the ad does not provide detailed information about the website, the audience can easily recognize that the website deals with the Internet domain.

Individual Blog 4 Post: "Go Daddy Ad: The Contract"
Response to question 5: Does this ad do anything or convince the viewer?
I think the commercial is actually pretty persuasive, persuasive to the wrong crowd for the website, maybe. But, I do remember their name after watching the commercial. Not only do they use sex appeal to appeal to the male viewers, they also use name recognition and repetition to have every viewer remember their brand.
The commercial starts out with two skinny, tall, teased hair, Caucasian, women with long legs and little clothing. This automatically catches the attention of half the population of television watchers, men. These two models are not only “beautiful” they also refer to already performing sexually explicit material including strippers and showering with other women and that the commercial the viewer was about to watch was “crossing the line”. This gets the viewers attention right away, these women are about to do something more than shower with each other! The viewer watches while the models strut onto the set and everyone stares. The models are then shown with only the “Go Daddy” logo on their bodies dancing on a bright orange set. When first watching this ad, I had assumed the commercial was for some sort of website with pornography or sexually explicit material as it suggests. But, they clearly used the idea that sex sells.
The words “Go Daddy”, the name of the website, are repeated or seen on the screen around 13 times. This is a lot considering the commercial is only around a minute and a half. The constant repetition of the name of the site and the visuals of the website itself and the logo keeps the name in your head after finishing the commercial.
With the sex appeal effect and the name repetition, I believe the makers of the commercial will get a good amount of people to go to the website, most likely men, which is ultimately the goal of the commercial. However, since the commercial didn’t once talk about, only wrote in a short sentence, what the websites content was, I doubt many people will stay on or frequently use the website because of this advertisement.

When I watch this commercial I notice it is from a different country. The things that stick out and appeal to me are the looks of the woman, and the attitude of the man. As this man drinks more of this beer the woman ,that is not good looking, gets better looking after every drink. The author is relating their drink to making women look better looking. I would say the writer is talking to an audience of young, single men that are interested in beer and women. I believe the audience values getting drunk, and meeting new people. I don't think the author does a very good job at advertising his product. The ad is about a type of beer, and you don't really know what kind of beer it is until the very end of the commercial, and even then it is not specified well. I also don't think this is a very good technique to sell the product. It is only directed towards single men. I feel that it could be a good sell for single men, but I don't think it would be very useful for other men that are not looking for a girl. On the other hand it could work for the men that are not satisfied with what their partner looks like, so in order to be attractive to them they should drink this beer. The look and attitude of the man in the commercial shows that he likes the beer for its effects on his eyesight. However it doesn't show or talk about the taste of the beer. All types of beer impair your vision and mind, you would think they would advertise the taste of the beer rather then the effects.

I personally don't think that this kind of ad actually does anything. As a woman, I don't find anything about this ad fascinating or compelling. It does not make me want to go out and buy the product. The idea from the commercial that women become more attractive when you consume alcohol is degrading in a way. I would like to think that men don't see it that way. It says, in a sense, that women are valued only for how attractive and sexy they are. That they are objects to a man's fantasy and mind. From a guy's point of view, however, this ad might have an effect. Any man wants to be with an attractive girl. Also, men tend to drink beer more often than women, so this ad is more aimed towards a male audience, clearly. The commercial is playing into the fantasy mind of a man to want a young, attractive, and sexy woman. The man that says you would need “beer goggles” on to be with a woman is strong and demeaning statement about women. I think the commercial does say something about society now and what we view as acceptable. In today's society, this kind of ad is perfectly normal and is viewed as okay. On the other hand, if you were to go back a few decades, this commercial would be frowned upon. This objectifying and fantasizing of women has become a norm in today's society. There are plenty of ads and commercials today that have a similar meaning. Like people always say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

This commerical, that we found on YouTube, is saying that beer makes any woman beautiful. It is saying that beer can make even the not so attractive woman, beautiful and appealing. A few comments that people said about this commercial are "He would need about a case and a half lol," and "The Infamous 'Beer Goggles' at work."
This commercial takes on the rhetoric of love and romance in pop culture pretty clearly. It is saying that if you drink enough alcohol, any woman can be the most beautiful, sexy woman that you want or dream of. It proposes that as long as you drink the alcohol, the woman will be your fantasy. The music also builds up to the point where the woman is the most attractive and kind of goes down hill from there. Ultimatly, the commerical is saying the more you drink, the more attractive women get.
Another interesting aspect of this video is how happy the man gets when his woman is getting more attractive as he drinks more. He gets so excited that his girl is looking better and better every time he takes a drink. Then, at the end when she is back to being her normal self and his beer is gone, he asks for another one to make the woman turn back into his idea of attractive. In a sense, he needs more alcohol to make women attractive, sexy, and beautiful.

When you are the author or creator of a paper, an ad, a commercial, a movie, or anything really, it is hard not to invoke your opinions, education or experience into the peice you are writing. Opinion not only makes writing more interesting, but it also gives the text an argument. It is possible for this to backfire onto the writer however. For example, if the author is cocky or arrogant in the way they portray their views, the reader of their text could be offended and argue the opposite view from the author.
